    The Journal of Industrial Water Treatment (IWT) is an authoritative and successful magazine read by designers, installers and users of water treatment technologies in China. Like a number of other Chinese trade magazines, the editorial content is very scientific – similar to that of an academic journal in the West – yet the magazine carries commercial advertising targeted at business customers.
    PubliSHEd monthly since 1981 in the city of Tianjin, Industrial Water Treatment has 20,000 paid subscribers and an unaudited pass-along rate of approximately 10 readers per copy. The normal length is 96 pages, and publication is on the 20th of every month with the deadline for advertising copy being the 1st of the month.

The magazine is co-sponsored by three organizations:
*CNOOC Tianjin Chemical R&D Institute.
*National Research Center of Industrial Water Treatment Engineering and Technology.
*Industrial Water Treatment Committee of the Chemical Engineering Academy of China.

    IWT is read by engineers and managers across a wide range of industries (see chart). Typical job titles for the readers include chief of technical operations, technician, construction manager, and purchasing manager. The education level of readers high, with 11% holding Phd degrees and a further 28% holding Masters degrees.
  As with many other Chinese trade magazines, the articles in Industrial Water Treatement are scientific in nature, and the magazine does not normally cover current events, industry news, associations or conferences. All of the editorial material is in simplified Chinese, although the table of contents and short summaries of each article also appear in English.
